Jack Pine

The Jack pine is a tall tree standing at 27 meters tall or 88.5 feet tall. The diameter of the average Jack pine is 32 centimeters or 12 inches. The flat bark of the Jack pine is reddish brown and as it continues the age the darker the bark starts to become. Like most trees found in the Taiga the Jack Pine has needle like leaves as to regular leaves. Pinecones are grown on the Jack Pine and provide a shelter for the Pine's seeds. This Pine tree is found very regularly in the Taiga biome and is very plentiful. The rough bark on the Jack Pine is used to protect itself from the extreme conditions of the Taiga biome.
Balsam Fir

The Balsam Fir is an Evergreen tree that can grow from 40 to 80 feet or 12 to 24 meters. This beautiful Evergreen Tree can live for up to 200 years. Like the previous plant the Balsam Fir has leaf like needles as to regular leaves that are 1 and a half or 3.81 centimeters long. The roots of the Balsam Fir do not go too deep and only go barely to 30 inches or 76.2 centimeters. Once the Balsam Fir reaches the age of 20 the first seeds begin to emerge. The Balsam Fir's seeds can be very easily destroyed by fire and is the is not fire resistant making it a prime victim of Forest Fire's in the Taiga.
Paper Birch

The Paper Birch tree earns its name from the thin bark that can be peeled in layers separating each layer apart like paper. These beautiful trees are known to grow in groups at pretty tall heights from 60 to 80 feet or 12.2 to 24.3 meters tall. Just like the other entries on our list the Paper Birch holds its seeds within a cone to protect them.
Eastern Red Cedar

The Eastern Red Cedar stands at 10 to 50 feet or 3 to 15.3 meters tall, a fairly short evergreen tree. I Eastern Red Cedar can grow on a variety of different types of soil and they prefer to grown in open fields instead of forests. However they can still be found in forests. It has two types of leaves. As seen on the picture to the right the Eastern Red Cedar grows almost in like a Pyramid shape in which the bottom is in a circular fashion and as the tree increases to the top gets much thinner and pointed than it was at the bottom.
